The Outlander Winter Tour

A must for Outlander fans – step aboard our luxury 8-seater Mercedes tourer and sit back and relax as Highland Tours and Transfers takes you on a bewitching tour of the highlands.

Join your friendly and knowledgeable host, Ken Mackinnon as breathtaking winter landscapes reveal the rich history and locations that have served as the backdrop for the beloved, Outlander TV series penned by Diana Gabaldon and starring Sam Heughan (Jamie) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire).

Your adventure will begin at the Clava Cairns: here you can wander through ancient burial grounds that resonate with the spirit of highlanders from the distant past. In the world of Outlander, this evocative location (aka Craig na Dun) reflects the mystical connection to the past that Claire Randall encounters.

You’ll then travel a short distance to Culloden Battlefield: this poignant site of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion holds deep historical significance and features in Outlander as the battle where Jamie clashed swords with Black-Jack Randall, played by Tobias Menzies.

Culloden House Hotel: Bonnie Prince Charlie used Culloden House as his battle headquarters prior to the fateful battle on Culloden Moor. At this stop, you’ll be free to wander about the woodland and private gardens and walk in the footsteps of the Outlander troops who used the hotel grounds as the setting for their field barracks.

Beauly Priory: Taking its name from the French ‘beau lieu’ meaning beautiful place, the pretty ruins of 13th century Beauly Priory served as the backdrop for the Beachamp family’s resting place and it’s here that Claire first encountered Maisri the Seer.

Before turning for home, we’ll visit the Wardlaw Mausoleum: Steeped in ancient history and as a Jacobite relic, this picturesque burial site features in the time-travelling tale as the burial site of Jamie’s grandfather Simon, Lord Lovat, ‘The Old Fox’, played by Clive Russell.

We look forward to welcoming you on this epic journey – your transport awaits!
